Experience the Camino de Santiago differently, walking each day with the great Tenebrae Choir in your ipod. The unique cappella choir will shed new light on your journey along the 4 stages of the French Way with their moving new album Path of Miracles.
The Camino de Santiago is a pilgrimage to the tomb of the Apostle Saint James, but for many pilgrims, the experience they had along the Way brought them something more than what they were expecting which motivated to give a new direction to their life. This is the case of Joby Talbot who spent three and a half years composing this “musical pilgrimage” or “choral odyssey” based on the most enduring route of Catholic pilgrimage – the great Pilgrimage to Santiago.
Path of Miracles is a work for a cappella choir composed by Joby Talbot, under the direction of Nigel Short and was commissioned by the internationally renowned vocal ensemble, Tenebrae, and premiered in 2005. They just rerelease the CD in April 2017.
The four movements of Path of Miracles are titled with the names of the four main staging posts of the ‘Camino Frances’:
I Roncesvalles
II Burgos
III Leon
IV Santiago
Using selections from the medieval texts Codex Calixtinus, Miragres de Santiago, and Roman Catholic liturgy, Path of Miracles incorporates musical styles from the Taiwanese Bunun people to the pilgrim’s hymn Dum Pater Familias, and is sung in Greek, Latin, Spanish, Basque, French, English and German.
You can access the album through the Tenebrae online shop – either buying a hard copy, downloading the files, and the album is also available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music.
