Make your way to Sarria by private transfer from Santiago Airport, or by bus or train from Madrid. Located around 115 km from Santiago, this lively town is the most popular starting point for pilgrims completing the final section of the French Way. After settling into your albergue or hotel, discover Sarria together. Walk through its historic quarter, climb the Escalinata Mayor and follow the Camino past Santa Mariña. A photographic treasure hunt is a fun way to spot your first yellow arrows, scallop shells and pilgrim symbols before your welcome dinner.

Your Camino adventure begins! Leave Sarria along quiet lanes and follow woodland paths between farms and traditional stone villages. At Morgade, take the essential group photograph beside the 100 km marker. Cross the Miño River and climb the steps into Portomarín, proud to have completed your first stage together. Much of the original town disappeared beneath the Belesar Reservoir in the 1960s, but important monuments, including the fortress-like Church of San Nicolás, were rebuilt stone by stone above the water. After dinner, enjoy games at the albergue and share the funniest moments of the day.

Today brings the longest stage of your Camino and a genuine challenge for the group. The route climbs through woodland and open countryside, passing small pilgrim villages and Castromaior, an impressive pre-Roman hillfort. A team challenge, spotting Camino symbols, unusual place names and local landmarks, will help the kilometers pass.

Reaching Palas de Rei after 25 km will feel like a real achievement. Settle into your albergue, rest your feet and enjoy a well-earned dinner together.

After yesterday’s challenge, today’s shorter stage gives you time to relax and enjoy the Camino together. Follow forest paths and country lanes, cross into the province of A Coruña and walk over the beautiful medieval bridge at Furelos, one of this section’s most memorable landmarks.

Arrive in Melide with time to explore this lively pilgrim town. Try its famous pulpo á feira, visit the Church of Sancti Spiritus or join a photographic challenge, searching for medieval details, Camino symbols and curious corners.

Another manageable stage leads through peaceful forests and rural villages, following shaded paths across streams and through Boente, Castañeda and Ribadiso. By now, your body is adapting and the Camino feels more natural. Enjoy time away from lessons and everyday routines, sharing conversations, music and laughter with your classmates.

A final climb brings you into Arzúa, famous for its creamy Arzúa-Ulloa cheese. You have now completed more than half the journey, with just over 40 km remaining.

Continue through forests, farmland and small villages as Santiago draws closer. The route passes A Calzada, Salceda and Santa Irene, where a historic chapel and fountain recall the pilgrims who have followed this path for centuries. You will meet more walkers from different countries, all sharing the excitement of the final stages.

O Pedrouzo is the last main pilgrim town before Santiago and the setting for your final evening in an albergue along the route.

This is the day you have all been waiting for! Walk through the final forests and villages, passing Lavacolla before climbing to Monte do Gozo. Pilgrims have paused here for centuries to glimpse the towers of Santiago Cathedral. Take a moment together to appreciate how far you have come, the goal is finally within reach. Follow the Camino into the historic center and walk together into Praza do Obradoiro.

After 114 km of challenges, tired legs, laughter and unforgettable moments, celebrate in front of the Cathedral and collect your Compostela.

Your Camino journey ends after breakfast. Depending on your group’s arrangements, you may return home today or extend your stay in Santiago. Additional nights, a guided visit of the Cathedral and old town, or an excursion to Finisterre and the Atlantic coast can be arranged.
