The 2027 Holy Year will make the Camino Francés busier, especially in spring, July and September. These are the principal dates already fixed as of 11 October 2026. Detailed municipal programmes, concerts and temporary transport arrangements are normally published closer to each event.

Date Place What to expect
21–28 March Entire route Holy Week. Processions, altered opening hours and strong accommodation demand around the Easter weekend.
23 April Castilla y León Community holiday affecting Burgos, León and much of the central French Way. Some shops and public services close.
12 May Santo Domingo de la Calzada Feast of Santo Domingo, with traditions centred on the town and cathedral. Local programme to be confirmed.
17 May Galicia Galician Literature Day, a regional public holiday.
6–14 July Pamplona San Fermín. The bull runs take place from 7 to 14 July. Rooms and transport should be secured very early.
25 July Santiago Feast of Saint James and Galicia Day. In 2027 it falls on a Sunday during a Holy Year. Expect exceptional demand and security controls.
5 October León Feast of San Froilán. Traditional events often extend around the date; the 2027 programme is still to be published.
12 October Spain National Day, with holiday timetables and some closures.

Which dates need the earliest booking?

San Fermín changes Pamplona completely. A pilgrim passing through in early July competes for rooms with festival visitors. Santiago around 25 July will be equally difficult, and the pressure will extend to towns on the final 100 kilometres.

Holy Week falls early in 2027. Weather can still be cold and wet on high sections, while holiday demand rises at the same time. Check seasonal openings before planning Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and the Pyrenees in March.
